“Without Darkness, there can be no Light.”
Our gallery is a 12 x 15’ central room located on the 2nd floor of The Dark Parlour (PDF of dimensions here). With flat black walls and ceilings, artworks are highlighted with low lighting to create a very dark and intimate experience between the work and the viewer.
We show only ONE artist during an exhibit to allow full focus for the viewer to engage with the work, and exhibits run for two weeks to a month. On rare occasion, we have begun exhibiting collective showcases for special events. These calls for art are announced on our social media pages.
Previously exhibited artists include:
Steven Archer – (August 2019) Oil Painter
Dusty Rose (Dustin Walker) – (September 2019) Multimedia Tattoo Artist
Zack Dunn – (October 2019) Oil Painter
Travis Trium Perfectum (IAMUNLIKEYOU) – (November 2019) visual artist and wordsmith
Jason Kreiger – (February 2020) Animator & Illustration
Acey Slade – (March 2020) Musician, Photographer, Coffee Entrepreneur
Joanna Barnum – (September 2021) Fine Art Watercolor and Illustration
The Dark Parlour charges a $20 gallery submission fee upon acceptance, for showcasing your work in the store, and will additionally charge 30% commission on any artwork sold in the store during the length of the exhibit. Upon acceptance for exhibiting at The Dark Parlour, artists will be invoiced, and a contract will be sent. Commissions cover costs to advertise, repair and occupy space within the Parlour’s gallery.
The theme for submission is always Dark Art. Specifically, we are looking to promote artists that explore topics of death, nightmare, tragedy, loss, pain, the occult, suffering, mental illness, horror, etc. This is not a typical gallery. We require a minimum of six (6) piece for exhibition, depending on size and medium.
We look at the darker elements of the Human Condition. All mediums and styles are welcomed and encouraged for submission, including oil, watercolor, charcoal, words, video, pencil, blood, photography, mixed, collage, etc. If it pushes boundaries and visually communicates an impactful message, it works.
