Freddie Graves is a 2014 MFA graduate from Maryland Institute College of the Arts (MICA), working throughout the Baltimore/Harrisburg area.

After a near-death experience in 2012, Freddie captures the emotion with human forms presented as a dysmorphic mosaics. A focus on single light source photography and black backgrounds, the figures absorb and emanate the light within and without.

Additionally, Graves works as a videographer on music videos to full length features provides the opportunity to explore the struggle inherent in relationships, dealing with the frailty of the mind and body, to campy fun. Music videos, short films, and his Masters Thesis will be presented.

Over the last 9 years, Graves continues to work on a docu-series titled “Peeled”. This docu-series provides a comprehensive look into the world of Featured Performers. Watch as these traveling show girls perform, compete, and create award winning shows. With in-depth interviews and dynamic performance video, see the struggles and triumphs of these women as they build careers in this highly competitive field. After the passing of rising star Vayda Kiss, Peeled also sheds light on mental health and access to resources within this often misconceived community.

Graves also uses reclaimed and recycled materials to make pieces that are functional while evoking the thought of over-processing in our consumer goods.
